Perpetua Coast

Oregon’s crown jewel coastal trails!

October 4-5, 2025

Event Overview

Welcome to the Perpetua Coast trail runs, set in the vibrant coastal village of Yachats, Oregon (say YAH-hots) and the Cape Perpetua National Scenic Area! The event features incredibly scenic 50K, 20 mile and half marathon courses with everything the Oregon Coast has to offer. From cozy beach town charm, rocky shoreline bluffs, sandy beaches, epic headland vistas and moss-draped old growth rainforest, the captivating sense of discovery at Perpetua Coast will keep you coming back for years to come.

From 2014-2021, this event was hosted as the Oregon Coast trail runs by our friends at Rainshadow Running. Since 2022, we are honored to carry on this scenic and beautiful event!

Background

Towering 800 feet over the Pacific Ocean, the Cape Perpetua headland is one of the highest viewpoints on the Oregon Coast, offering unmatched views of 70 miles of shoreline and 35 miles out to sea on clear days. From this high point, views of the Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve and Cape Perpetua Scenic Area’s rugged and rocky shore demonstrate the power of the ocean as it meets the coastal temperate rainforest, rich with diverse ecology and archeological significance.

Nestled between lush temperate rainforest and rhythmic Pacific surf, the village of Yachats derives its name from the native term Ya’Xaik (YAH-hike), commonly used to refer to the Yachats area and the band of native Alsea people who lived here. The Alsea called the Cape Perpetua area Halaqaik, the “uncovered place, open place or exposed place” because they maintained the area as open meadows through generations of cultural burning of encroaching forest. The more open meadows facilitated their hunting of elk, deer and other game.

Land Acknowledgement: We honor and recognize that we gather for this event on the traditional lands of the native Alsea peoples, who have been part of this landscape for at least 6,000 years, with Yachats and Cape Perpetua bearing much evidence of this rich history.
