Gorge Waterfalls 100K

April 12, 2025

100K

The 100K course offers a world-class scenic tour through the heart of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. The course is an out-and-back route, initially traveling downriver from Cascade Locks to the Multnomah Falls and Wahkeena Falls area, back to Cascade Locks, then upriver on the Pacific Crest Trail past Herman Creek to Wyeth Trailhead, then back to Cascade Locks for the finish. Awe-inspiring views and trails await along this challenging course!

The trails feature a variety of surfaces types, primarily rocky semi-technical singletrack mixed with more smooth dirt singletrack. The course is generally very runnable, with many punchy hill climbs and some very rocky technical sections through the many open talus slopes. There are some extended, intermittent sections of paved pedestrian/bike path connectors and some rural road shoulder sections to connect some trail segments.

The race includes eight aid stations, with three offering drop bag access and five allowing crew access. Pacers are allowed from Wyeth Aid Station (#7) to the finish as well.

Aid Stations

The 100K includes eight aid stations staffed with enthusiastic, experienced volunteers. All aid stations are what we call “full service” which will be well stocked with: water, Gnarly Nutrition Fuel2O energy drink, Coke, 7up, ginger ale, Spring Energy gels*, PB&J sandwiches, cookies, various fresh fruit options, potato chips, gummi snacks, trail mix and a variety of other ultra fare and basic first aid supplies. Later aid stations will be stocked with warm, salty/savory food options such as quesadillas, potatoes, soup, etc., especially if we get a cold/wet weather race day.

Most aid stations will also have professional medical personnel present with a full compliment of emergency response and first aid equipment.

All Daybreak races are CUPLESS.

Be sure to bring your own reusable drinking vessel/cup for liquids such as soda at aid stations.

*Please respect our limit of 2 SPRING ENERGY GELS per aid station pass per runner. If you need more than 2 energy gels per aid station pass, you must carry your own or have more in your drop bags. This is to ensure all runners have access to energy gels and they aren’t all taken by faster runners.

  • Runners leaving Wyeth Aid Station #7 after 4:30PM must leave with a working headlamp (or other effective illumination) and extra batteries. No exceptions.

Trekking Poles

Trekking poles are allowed.

Trail Work

At this time, we do not have a trail work requirement. However, we strongly believe ultrarunners should contribute some volunteer trail stewardship activities each year, especially considering the significant use of public lands the sport of trail and ultrarunning requires.

We will host at least one trail work party in the months leading up to the race and would love your participation-- date and location TBA.
