Trail work opportunities are coming back! We have been given permission from the Forest Service to host a fun day of trail work and stewardship along Coldwater Lake along the Backcountry Rise course. Whether you’re a mountain biker, trail runner, hiker, trail work veteran or first-timer, we welcome you! This work party is limited to the first 24 people who sign up.
DATE: Saturday June 5, 2021
LOCATION: Coldwater Lake Boat Launch Area, off Spirit Lake Hwy 504 in SW Washington.
TIME: Check-in opens at 8:45am. Safety meeting begins at 9:00am. Hike in begins at 9:15am. Trail work until 2pm, including a lunch break.
SIGN-UP: You MUST fill out the sign-up form in the RSVP link prior to the work date. This is critical to our planning purposes.
WHAT TO BRING: Sturdy hiking boots (not running shoes), work gloves, eye protection, long sleeved shirt, pants, rain gear if wet, hard hat or bike helmet, drinking water and a lunch/snacks.
SOME TRAIL WORK TOOLS WILL BE PROVIDED, but if you have your own loppers, hand saw, rake, etc., please feel free to bring and use them.
TASK DESCRIPTION: We will hike 3/4 of a mile to the Elk Bench Trail junction along Coldwater Lake and begin cutting back overgrown brush along the Elk Bench Trail that leads up to the Backcountry Rise staging venue.
